CORDA LANE RESIDENCE
Los Angeles, California | Completed 2023
Perched along the Mulholland Scenic Corridor, the Corda Lane Residence reimagines a once-compact home into a layered, modern farmhouse retreat for a growing family. The nearly doubled footprint unfolds as a series of connected volumes, anchored by a striking double-height library hall where a floating steel staircase rises against an industrial metal window—an unexpectedly sculptural moment at the center of the plan.
The second story is split thoughtfully between a serene primary suite with canyon views and a secondary bedroom, while a separate addition over the garage offers a flexible retreat—part rec room, part guest house—complete with its own bathroom and kitchenette. Downstairs, the former warren of rooms gives way to an open, easy flow where living, dining, and kitchen spaces bleed together for everyday family life.
A moody blue-black board-and-batten exterior sets the tone, a deliberate departure from the white farmhouses that dominate the neighborhood. Inside, the palette softens: white oak floors and cabinetry, warm whites, and organic modern textures infuse the home with a Scandinavian calm. The result is a residence that balances rustic familiarity with tailored modernity—crafted for light, connection, and the slow rhythm of family living in the canyon.
